Andrea & Neal are quite the couple! The two of them are so funny. Their chemistry is so obvious (see below–), & they’re incredibly entertaining to each other (& to this photographer..haha)… Andrea is a library/media specialist at an elementary school, & I’ve heard that Neal is a very talented artist. We did this shoot in Lawrence & I took them to my favorite abandoned property. Without hesitation, they climbed through the broken fence & the overgrown bushes & trees, even bringing along Neal’s guitar. That was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed working with them, & love the joy on their faces in these photos.

Jordan & Sarah were married in the gorgeous Castle Tea Room just before Christmas. Friends & family filled the walls of the elegant yet cozy venue for their intimate, personal ceremony & dessert reception.The whole day was full of little details that were so Sarah & Jordan…The groom & groomsmen wore Star Wars cufflinks, & they cut their cake with a broadsword. (Remarkably well, too!) Witnessing that was pretty much amazing. Haha. They’re such a great match for each other; They make each other laugh so much, so easily- & there is an unmistakable tenderness in their eyes when they look at each other. Congratulations!!!

Lisa & Jason go way back. When I asked how they met, they both laughed & explained that they met in geometry class & are “high school sweethearts”. Seven & a half years of marriage later, their connection has grown even deeper- they’re both amazing friends to each other, & very much in love. We wandered around Lawrence for a couple hours —one of their friends even let us borrow a tandem bike from the local bike shop! (So awesome!) I think they’re just adorable.

It’s been a crazy week! New apartment (NEW OFFICE/STUDIO!!!), new sets of photos to share, new plans– More photos coming soon!
For now though, I don’t have internet at home… which pretty much sucks.

Kellie & Al are just as much old friends as they are lovers—& now husband & wife. You can just tell in the way that they fit so comfortably & easily together. If there is one thing that I have learned shooting weddings, it is the importance of friendship in romance…& it makes me so happy to photograph the celebration of such deep, wonderful love! The two of them are so fun-loving, & so easy to work with. The whole bridal party even went outside for photos in the frigid December weather! (I probably complained more about the cold than they did, & I was wearing a huge wool coat.) The whole day was a great time, & I might have even found a new assistant– the flower girl.

Megan & John are just so easy to photograph. First of all, they’re both incredibly gorgeous. They’re also incredibly in love, & that fact makes every moment between the two of them the perfect moment to click the shutter. Their ceremony was the kind that makes you want to hold your breath, because everything happening seems so delicate & emotional & beautiful. Everything went so smoothly, & their family & friends were very supportive & fun. …& when I walked into the reception for the first time I pretty much jumped with joy at how great the venue & decorations were! I am still pretty obsessed with the centerpieces, they are so awesome! The second the music started playing, everyone was on the dance floor–everyone had so much fun & photos show it! Congratulations again!

Hello all!
I’m back from running around the country & finally getting back to work. (I slept for pretty much two days straight when I got home.) I had quite the great vacation. It was wonderful to see our close friends, wander around that city I love so much, & relax… The trip back from New York was pretty ridiculous, though. We started out by taking the wrong highway through Pennsylvania (turns out Travis is not the best navigator)… Then we stopped in Indianapolis to see some great friends that we haven’t seen in six months. We spent about 3 hours with them before getting back on the road. At this point, I decided I needed to learn how to crochet, while I was supposed to be map-reading. Unfortunately, this meant we ended up accidentally driving to Chicago. (I don’t know how we were so oblivious to which direction we were driving.) This added several hours to our trip. By the time we got back to Lawrence, I was pretty delirious from lack of sleep. We made it though!

2009 was such a crazy, eventful, wonderful year. I met so many amazing people, had great opportunities, & learned so much…. & I’m incredibly excited for 2010. I know this year will be brilliant!

In fifty years, I want to recreate this photo with 2060 glasses & my 70-something friends. Haha. (Except I will probably forget that idea by tomorrow…)

I’ve been a bit behind on blogging, please forgive me! I hope everyone’s holidays were happy & beautiful. I’ve been “out of the office” for the last week (in NY/NJ) & will be until January 9th. I’ll be back on top of blogging, editing, phone calls, & emailing then!
